Order of Christian Initiation for Adults

OCIA & ADULT CONFIRMATION

Christian Initiation Starts in September!

St. Peter Parish desires to WELCOME ALL into the sacramental life of the Church.

OCIA

The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is a program of formation designed for non-Catholics who are seeking to join the Catholic Church. This program provides opportunities for study, reflection and a spiritual journey led by the program director, the parish clergy and the individual’s personal sponsor. Individuals entering the Catholic Church are typically received into the Church as part of our Easter liturgies.

If you are aware of anyone seeking entrance into the Catholic Church or simply have questions regarding what would be involved to become a Catholic, please assist them by putting them in touch with our parish. For signup and further information, please email parish@stpetersofnewiberia.com.

Adult Confirmation

The sealing of the Holy Spirit in Confirmation is the final sacrament of initiation into the Catholic Church. If, for some reason, you have not received Confirmation, the Church welcomes you to take part in this grace-filled Sacrament!

This four to five week process will emphasize the basics of Catholic teaching, addressing the adult audience’s many concerns, questions, and responsiblities. Some of the topics include the Trinity, the sacraments, prayer, and morality.

Requirements for Adult Confirmation are

  • 18 years old and older
  • Have received Sacrament of Baptism

  • Have not received the Sacrament of Confirmation

Order of Christian Initiation of Adults - OCIA

The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults is the process in which those discerning entrance into the Catholic faith are prepared and received. There are various rituals for those in the program, particularly those who are catechumens (non-baptized). This weekend the three members who are catechumens will experience the Rite of Acceptance at our 10:30 am Mass. This Rite formally enters them into the OCIA discernment.  We pray for them along with the other members who were baptized as Protestants and are now seeking full communion with the Catholic Church.  May the Lord bless them, and may they feel the love and support of the parishioners of St. Peter Parish.

Catechumens:

  • Phillip Early

  • Evan Kuepper

  • Marilyn Kuepper

  • Kole Migues

Candidates Seeking Full Communion:

  • Grethel Poirier
