In order to make the arrangements for the funeral service as easy as possible during this time of loss, please contact the funeral home of your choice; they will then contact our funeral coordinator, Su Su Lester, at the Parish office – (337) 369-3816 – to establish a time of service and other needed arrangements.

Reception of Holy Communion at Funerals and Weddings

We often gather as a faith community to express our joy at weddings of loved ones and to share in sorrow with each other at the passing of loved ones. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is often where many of us will gather with family for these most profound moments in our lives. Many times members joining us for these events may not be Catholic or may have fallen away from their faith and are not able to receive Holy Communion. Beginning in December at all funerals and weddings a brief announcement will be made to remind all faithful present about the proper disposition that must be possessed to receive Our Lord in the Eucharist. These guidelines are prescribed by the USCCB - United States Conference of Catholic Bishops - and are found inside of the back cover of the Missalette.

Below is the announcement that will be made at these Masses:

As we prepare to receive our Lord in the Holy Eucharist, we remind all present that as Roman Catholics we believe that Christ is truly present in the Holy Eucharist; therefore, one must be worthily prepared to receive Him. If you are not Catholic or for Catholics who are not properly disposed to receive Holy Communion, we would ask that you refrain from the reception of Holy Communion. You may come forward in the communion line for a blessing, please indicate such by placing your hand on your chest or your index finger over your lips. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

St. Peter’s Bereavement Committee

St. Peter’s Catholic Church is seeking volunteers to give guided tours to our beautiful church and cemetery!

You would attend 3 training classes on Saturday, November 3rd, 10th and 17th from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

You would learn the history of the church, its architecture, the history of the statues, the stained-glass windows, the altar and other beautiful elements of our church. All proceeds would be for the upkeep and beautification of the church. Tours will be given monthly or bi-monthly to start.

If you are interested in becoming a guide (either once or twice a month) please contact the Parish Office at  369-3816 for more information or to sign-up.
