Abortion Alternatives and Abortion Recovery Programs

In the past few weeks so many people have had the opportunity to see the phenomenal movie “Unplanned.” This movie has stirred an awakening as to the horror of what abortion causes. The Church in her ministry of mercy has within our own community and Diocese so much to offer to those who are considering abortion and those who have at one point in their life chosen abortion.

We are very proud of the work of the Unexpected Pregnancy Center located here in New Iberia. Continue to spread the word as to the good work that is accomplished by that dedicated team of individuals who accompany confused and scared women in times of their unexpected pregnancies. Also, if you are aware of women who have had an abortion, please let them know of Project Rachel which is a wonder ministry here in the Diocese of Lafayette.

Project Rachel – A post abortion healing and reconciliation program for those suffering the negative effects of an abortion experience. The individual sessions are held weekly where they receive the healing grace of God through a nine-step healing program. Contact: Trista @ 337.261.5598.

St. Peter Altar Server Outing to New Orleans

St. Peter Altar Server Outing to New Orleans

On Saturday, July 13th we will be treating our parish altar servers to a day in New Orleans. The outing will consist of an opportunity to visit Notre Dame Seminary, St. Louis Cathedral, The New Orleans Aquarium and a boat ride on the famous Riverboat Natchez.

Our young servers are very dedicated to their ministry of serving at the altar of God. I would like to thank them for their dedication and give them an opportunity to spend the day with me and each other in a casual setting. The cost of this trip for 33 servers will be approximately $2300.000. This includes bus transportation, tickets to the Aquarium and Steamboat Natchez and lunch. It would be appreciated if our parishioners would contribute a little to assist the parish financially in providing this outing for our servers. Consider how it is customary to tip a waiter or waitress in a restaurant who serves at table. These young boys and girls as well as our high school students serve at the Table of the Lord each Sunday and even on weekdays. Let’s show them our appreciation with a generous tip.

If you would like to contribute to this outing, please place your donation in the Sunday collection in an envelope clearly marked “Altar Server Outing.” You can also mail it to the parish, drop it off at the parish office or give it to me personally. If the donations collected exceed the amount needed for this New Orleans trip, the extra funds will assist the parish in the expenses recently incurred in the purchase of the new red cassocks and red trimmed surplices that our servers are now wearing on feast days and solemnities.

Many thanks for your continuous generosity and support for our dedicated altar servers.

Fr. Blanda

What is Natural Family Planning? (NFP)

Also called fertility awareness, Natural Family Planning (NFP) is a term used to naturally achieve or postpone pregnancy. These methods are based on observation of the naturally occurring signs and symptoms of the fertile and infertile phases of a woman's cycle. No drugs, devices, or surgical procedures are used to postpone pregnancy. NFP reflects the dignity of the woman within the context of marriage and family life, promotes openness to life, and recognizes the value of the child. By respecting the love-giving and lifegiving natures of marriage, NFP can enrich the bond between husband and wife.

The Diocese of Lafayette currently has instructors trained in the following methods: Billings Ovulation Method, Creighton Model System and Sympto-Thermal Method. Please contact Kelly Chapman at the Diocese of Lafayette (337) 261-5653 to learn more or to register for learning a seminar on a particular method.

Flocknote Instructions:

We are aware that not everyone was able to sign up for Flocknote a few weeks ago, so we are including step by step instructions to help you receive messages about important parish information. For those of you who do not know what Flocknote is, it is a messaging system that allows the coordinator of each parish ministry to send out important notes and reminders to those involved in that particular ministry. For example, Adoration Adorers will be reminded about First Friday Adoration a few days prior to the Thursday it begins. Fr. Blanda and Fr. Albert will be able to send out messages about special Masses, cancellations, and overall important information about things going on in the parish.

If you receive either text messages or E-mails, you can sign up for Flocknote. Flocknote is free as long as you are paying for text messages. If your plan only allows a certain amount of messages, then you may be charged if you go over your message allowance that month. Flocknotes are not sent out often, so charges should not be an issue.

If you have any questions about Flocknote, please contact the Parish Office at 369-3816.

1. Go to your text messages and create a new message and type stpeters (all lowercase and one word as shown) as the message, and send the text to 84576.

2. You will receive a text message with an Internet link similar to this:

3. Click the link and create a profile with your first name and last name.

4. Choose the ministries that YOU are involved in. Please do not choose a ministry that you or your child (if applicable) are not directly involved in! Approval has to be given for each ministry, and if you are not part of that ministry, you will not be allowed in that group. If you are not involved in any ministries but would like to receive general messages from Fr. Blanda, Fr. Albert, and staff, then you will be able to receive those just by signing up.

5. Click NEXT and you are done!
